Patrick Bateman of ‘American Psycho”s Favorite Restaurants
Before the world ever knew Christian Bale had been cast as Bruce Wayne he was walking around in the Ferragamo suits of Patrick Bateman in ‘American Psycho.’ Where Bruce Wayne is charismatic Patrick Bateman is an empty shell of a human being. And every day of his life was spent trying to look normal and suppress his murderous urges (aka your typical Division 1 fratboy…minus the Ferragamo suits, plus the baseball cap cocked to the corner and Polo shirt complete with popped collar).
Patrick Bateman spent most of the movie slipping in and out of psychosis like he was on the weirdest acid trip of all time. In one of the funniest moments of any movie ever the atm he’s trying to withdraw money from tells him to insert a kitten. So he picks up the kitten at his feet and tries to put it to the slot. Had he succeeded you can bet that the $20 bills would have come out wet and shredded, like sticky little cash money hairballs.
Bateman struggled desperately to not display his murderous urges by burying himself in stylish, trendy things. And thoughout the movie he had to display the finest versions of everything from cosmetics to clothes and from business cards to business lunches.
Restaurants are all good and dandy, but Bateman needed to go the the most exclusive, reclusive, and sometimes damned odd places in New York. And he name drops a TON of them throughout the movie. So someone took it upon themselves to investigate every restaurant and nightspot mentioned in ‘American Psycho’ to see just how exclusive they really were.
