New ‘Arrested Development Movie’ No Longer Arrested (Pictures)

article written by:

The television world’s most dysfunctional family is returning to TV just before they get their own movie.

Hallelujah!

Mitchell Hurwitz, the creator of the show, was halfway through developing the movie when he realized that with the show ending 5 years ago each character had developed backstory…

Whatever peanut. So long as you get those hilariously broken nutbags on screen it’s all good.

But with all that backstory Hurwitz decided that a nine or ten episode series would lead up to the movie with each character getting their own episode before reuniting in the film. After all this time is this really possible?

Jason Bateman, who plays lead character Michael Bluth, says that the business side is almost done and Hurwitz himself says that the creative team behind the project are 80% of the way to making things happen with a series airing in late 2012 and the movie in early 2013.

Consider that an open timeline to start re-watching your ‘Arrested Development’ DVDs and chattering some chatter in your ‘Arrested Development’ forums.

Don’t delay. First one to come up with Buster’s backstory that is closest to the writer’s vision gets Buster’s hook.*

*This is totally untrue, but would be unbearably awesome if it were.
