Man Proves Living on Beer is Possible…Kinda
Clifton Vial, 52, got stuck in a snowdrift 40 miles out of town in Alaska. His only source of food for three days were frozen cans of beer which he ate “like cans of beans.”
Depending on how often you eat beans, this can mean a mountain or the diet of that anorexic who weighs as much as her 8 year old kid. What he actually meant was that he cut the cans open, peeled back the lid, and dug out chunks of the frozen drinks with a knife.
Vial sustained temperatures of 17 below 0 in his car, occasionally starting it up for the heat and radio. The ordeal began when he embarked on one of his routine expeditions, deciding to explore the roads outside of town for a few hours in his truck. Unlike his other trips, however, Vial left his supplies (sleeping bag, food, gasoline, and other survival stuff) and his two labradors at home.
Although his mistake turned out to be life-threatening, an alarm was raised when he failed to show up for work. After a search lasting more than a day, Vial was found just in time.
