Speaking of men growing breasts and blooming into the beautiful women they always knew they were inside, the singer of Against Me! has come out as transgendered. She will begin her MTF transformation soon and has adopted the name of Laura, which she says her mother would have named her had she been born a girl.

Although this may not be a huge surprise to some Against Me! fans who pay attention to Against Me!’s lyrics (specifically in The Ocean), it’s a pretty big deal especially because Laura is the first rock and roll star to go public with being transgender. She hopes people will be “fairly kind” about her transformation, and so do I. Music-wise, however, their earlier stuff is really way better than the garbage they’ve been putting out over the past few years.
